This is the debut recording of the well-known county Carlow
duet of Dave Sheridan on fiddle and Ciaran Somers on flute.
The two players are noted for the energy and sense of enjoyment
that they bring to their music. The album was mainly recorded
in Brittany, France at the studio of Nicolas Quemener who
accompanies them here on guitar. Nicolas lived in Galway
for three years in the early nineties and has toured with
the group ‘Arcady’ alongside Johnny ‘Ringo’
Mc Donagh.
Originally from county Offaly, Dave Sheridan has been a
familiar face at many sessions around Ennis over the years.
Dave has performed with a number of groups, most recently
with the Kilkenny based ensemble ‘Aontas’. Ciaran
Somers teaches the Flute at the annual Willie Clancy Summer
School and also plays the Uilleann pipes. He has toured
with a number of groups including ‘The Geantraí
players’ who were guests of the Chinese Embassy in
Beijing in 2008.
Along with Ivan Maguire, they played the Ennis Trad festival
'Brunch' gig in 2007.
Dave, Ciaran and Nicolas play traditional music from all
parts of Ireland and have been expanding their repertoire
of Breton music in recent times.
