1pm – Interim report on the Traditional Arts Research in County Clare

Speakers:

Muiris Ó Rócháin is a founding-director of the Willie Clancy Summer School, in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare and is Cathaoirleach, Comhairle Radió na Gaeltachta
Dr. Liz Doherty is a fiddle player from Buncrana, Co. Donegal. She was appointed Traditional Arts Specialist with the Arts Council of Ireland in March 2005.
Siobhan Mulcahy is the Arts Officer with Clare County Council.
Tara Connaghan, is a fiddle player from Donegal. She works with Clare County Council as Regional Arts Co-ordinator specialising in the traditional arts. Tara is also an adviser for the Arts Council’s traditional Arts Initiative – DEIS.

Tom Sherlock is a Dublin-based manager of traditional music artists and dancers including Altan, Liam O'Flynn, Paddy Glackin, Seamus Begley etc. with extensive experience of festival programming and tour management. From 1982 until 1996 he worked as production manager with Claddagh Records. Tom is a part-time lecturer in music business studies and occasional writer, consultant and commentator on Irish music.

Iarla Ó Lionaird is a sean-nos singer from Cuil Aodh, in West Cork. He has been a member of the band ‘Afro Celts’ for the last 10 years and has recently embarked on a solo career. He has worked with many innovative artists using various innovative recording techniques.

Tom Munnelly is full time folklore collector and archivist with the Department of Irish Folklore in UCD. Living in Clare since 1978, he has a mast largest collection of traditional song ever complied by a collector in Ireland.

Benny McCarthy is an accordion player from West Waterford who has toured and managed the band “Danú” since their formation in 1995. He has vast experience of working with agents and promoters in Europe, USA and Canada.

Ollie Jennings is founder of the Galway Arts Festival and former manager of De Dannan. He currently manages The Saw Doctors.

Alan Kelly is a piano accordion player from Roscommon who has released 3 albums on his own record label, Black Box Music. He has toured extensively with both theatre and music, including De Dannan, Alison Brown, Eddi Reader and Michael McGoldrick, as well as fronting his own band.
